When October Goes…

Ever had a song stuck in your head?  For the last few days I’ve had two.  The first is Barry Manilow’s hit “When October Goes,” which is pretty sad, but very appropriate for this time of year.  The second is Laurie Berkner’s “Victor Vito” which is incredibly upbeat and about two guys named Victor and Eddie who eat spaghetti, amongst other things.  Yes, it’s a kid’s song and I CAN NOT GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD!!!  I have been randomly singing it throughout the day for 4 days now and need a new song stuck in my head!   Am currently taking suggestions.

Now on to better things!  I had a successful time at the Sip ‘n Shop and thought I’d post some pics of the things I haven’t put online yet that are still available to buy.  (Major thanks to my kids’ babysitter who agreed to be my purse model)  I’m debating whether I should list everything on etsy.com or try to do another craft fair or two before Christmas.  Thoughts anyone?

New stuff

I’m in the midst of preparing for my very first craft fair.  I’ve been sewing purses, bags, stroller quilts and another baby quilt to sell.  I’ve also had some special orders and other sales that I’m thrilled about!

My true love is quilting so I was so excited to be able to spend time finishing this gorgeous 9 patch baby quilt.  I am so in love with this quilt!  The gray and orange fabrics came in a bundle that I purchased.  I wanted the back to be interesting but not compete with the front so I just added a strip of the gray and orange squares and kept the other fabric a light gray.  I bound it in dark gray.  It’s dimensions are 33″ x 41.5″.  It is currently for sale for $115.

I also made a new ragged edge bag.  It measures 9″ x 9″.  I used two fun batiks that I found at my favorite quilting store.  It’s also reversible!  This bag is perfect to use as a nursery bag or as a lunch bag.  It’s also machine washable, which is a bonus.  It is currently for sale for $25.

“Something Orange”

A friend of mine recently asked me to make her a Buttercup Bag.  When I asked her about fabric she said she wanted “something orange.”  Rather than add piping as a detail to her purse I decided to do a button flap.  I think it turned out really well, and thankfully she agrees.  🙂

Buttercup Bags!

The Buttercup Bag (a Made By Rae pattern) is the second purse I made after deciding to take a short break from quilting.  It’s a great size for someone who prefers a smaller purse (like myself) or for a young girl or “tween.”  Buttercup Bags are approximately 11″ x 7″. They are fully lined in a coordinating fabric and have one pocket inside. The fabric is reinforced to make the purse sturdy and durable. Each purse has a magnetic snap closure at the top. Prices for Buttercup Bags (as shown) start at $25.

Charlie Bags!

After getting super frustrated while working on a quilt I decided to make a few purses whose patterns I’ve had my eye on for awhile.  The first pattern that I made a purse from is the Charlie Bag (an Olive Tree Textiles pattern).  Charlie Bags are approximately 16″ x 12″. They are fully lined in a coordinating fabric and have two pockets inside. The fabric is reinforced to make the purse sturdy and durable. Each purse has a magnetic snap closure at the top. Prices for Charlie Bags (as shown) start at $35.

While working in our church nursery one Sunday, I spied an adorable quilted, ragged edge purse that one of the babies had their diaper and wipes in.  I studied it, found some similar pictures online and then made my own.  I made quite a few as gifts for friends’ daughters and also made a variation for my own daughter.  Most of the dimensions are 6″x9″ except for Catherine’s which is 8″x8″.  I am offering stock and custom versions of these bags starting at $15.
