I can’t believe it’s been more than a year since my last blog post!  Last April I got a “real job” and most of my free time (a.k.a. quilting time) disappeared.  I’ve recently begun to find little windows of time to begin sewing, creating, and quilting.  I’ve also taken up hand embroidery, which I love.  Here are a few pictures of some of the things I’ve worked on in the last fourteen months.

Whaaaaat?!  Seriously, it’s almost been 3 months since I last blogged and I can’t believe it.  It has not been intentional at all.  Here’s what I’ve been doing…

I had a couple of Stroller Quilt/burpcloth/bib orders. I then had a craft show the last weekend in April/first weekend in May.  It was great.  It was only for one day due to horrible thunderstorms on the second day, but even so, it was a great craft show.  After this craft show I had 2 new orders to do.  (One shouldered dress and 7 quilted winebags)  By the way, have I shown you the quilted winebags yet?  No?  I’ll make sure to post some pictures. After my orders I had a quilt order, then vacation, and now VBS at my church!  (fyi, I’m co-leading the arts and crafts and am LOVING it!)  I think that pretty much catches us up.

Here is a picture of the winebags.  They are quilted and soooo cute!  They sold like hot cakes at the craft show and like I mentioned I had an order for 7 after that!So cute, right?

Here is a picture of the baby quilt I made most recently.  I was sent a couple of pictures of a nursery for a soon to be born baby boy.  I immediately recognized one of the fabrics used in decorating the nursery as a Michael Miller fabric I had seen before.  I based the quilt around this since I knew that it would compliment the colors in the nursery.  I found the pattern on Pinterest and loosely modified it to fit my needs.

I’ve got another baby quilt to make and then a t-shirt quilt order and then we’ll see what’s next!

By the way, you are welcome for the Elton John tribute picture of my silly 3 year old.

Qu’est-ce que c’est?

What’s this?  Well, I’m so glad you asked.  This, my friends, is my idea of a fantastic baby shower gift.

It consists of a double sided stroller quilt, approximately 28″ x 36″, two coordinating burp cloths, a coordinating, double sided bib and a matching hair bow/rosette. Here’s the “front” side of the quilt with the matching burp cloth, the “front” side of the bib and the adorable hair rosette.

Here’s the “back” side of the quilt with the matching burp cloth and the “back” side of the bib.

Here is everything together.  Ooooh, so sweet and perfect for a baby girl!

Here it is all bundled up, packaged and ready to be given as a shower gift.  These are available to be purchased by custom order.  I’m working towards making a few bundles ready to sell for my craft show in April.  Think of me next time you get invited to a baby shower!

With all of the sewing that I have done, and do, I have NEVER made an article of clothing.  I’ve never had the desire to, until now.  One of the crafting blogs I follow featured Violette Field Threads.  I immediately fell in love with everything they sell, and I mean everything.  I decided that I needed to make a couple of things for Catherine and chose to start with this dress.  I deliberated for about an hour over the fabric I wanted to use and ended up choosing a pale blue, shabby chic, rose print with matching stripe print for the ruffle accent at the top of the dress.  Since Catherine will be 3 in May I made the dress a size 3 but it’s still too big.  So, my friend’s daughter (who is 4) very kindly offered to model the dress, and then begged to keep the dress.  🙂  That’s a good sign, right?  I think it’s so precious and am using great restraint to not make about 5 more.  Who knows, maybe I will.

Four Christmas Stockings

Here they are!  All four stockings are done and hanging (as seen here) in their new home.  I LOVE these stockings.  Let me repeat, I LOVE THESE STOCKINGS!!!

A friend contacted me after I posted the blog about the second tree skirt I made, asking me to make four Christmas stockings for her family.  (Can you tell from the color schemes that other than my friend there are three boys in the house?)  She gave me free reign to make whatever designs and use whatever fabrics I wanted to.  Initially this caused a wee bit of a problem because I seriously have about a thousand ideas floating around in my head for quilts or designs I want to try.  After I did some mental editing and surveyed the fabrics I already had in my stash I came up with these four stockings.  I didn’t use any patterns and I used my son’s Christmas stocking as the basis for the size of the four.

I got to try out my fancy new sewing machine’s double overlocking stitch, which I used on all of the edges and seams.

I’m totally up for making many, many more of these.  Please let me know if you want to order some for next Christmas!

Here they are, individually, for you to admire.  So, which one is your favorite?

Here’s the second Christmas tree skirt I made.  It was another custom order and has a totally different feel than the first.  Although the pattern is mostly the same (a few slight modifications to the widths of strips used) the group of fabrics used is much more traditional and simple than the first.  I really love this tree skirt.  I used a group of fabrics I bought last Christmas season, comprised of the same reds, greens, white and black in 13 different designs.  Gorgeous, if I do say so myself!

Christmas Projects

In between projects I’ve made a couple of Christmas things and I thought I’d post some pics. The bib has already found a good home and the pillow cases are for the kiddos and yes, I totally added ric rac to them.  Couldn’t resist.  Hope everyone is having a great time preparing for the holiday!
