What’s Next?

I have a wee bit of a break in between quilting orders so I’ve started working on a project for me.  Well, not exactly for me, but it’s a project for Catherine.  I’m starting to make her twin bed quilt for when she goes to a big girl bed.  While I’m at it I should probably finish Elliott’s twin bed quilt too.  I’ve got most of the top of his quilt done (just need to add the border and get all the supplies for the back and binding).  But I digress.  When I first started quilting I fell IN LOVE with Heather Bailey’s Nicey Jane fabric line.  I made Catherine’s baby quilt (a.k.a. the quilt I snuggle with when I’m watching tv at night) out of it and just had to make her a twin bed one with it as well.  I ordered a bunch of charm packs (pre cut 5″ squares of the entire line) and finally decided to make a wonky star quilt with it, organizing each star into one of the color groups of the Nicey Jane.  I’ve never done a wonky star quilt before but have always wanted to try one.  Here’s what I’ve got so far!I’m using the tutorial for a wonky star block found here.  My wonky star blocks each measure 10″ when completed.  I’m going to need 63 blocks to make the entire quilt.  I’ve made 8 so far.  Each block uses 5 charm squares which means I need 315 charm squares of Nicey Jane.  A little overwhelming to say the least.  Lots of work ahead of me.  I’m hoping to actually have this finished sometime around Christmas 2011.  Of course I’ll post the pics of the final product for all to see!
