Spring Has Sprung!

My latest custom order is a bright, springy, hourglass baby quilt.  It was ordered by a lovely woman for her first granddaughter who was just born.  The colors she chose were reds, yellows, greens and blues.  The quilt measures 40″ x 49″ and is the perfect size for tummy time, the crib, a toddler bed and especially snuggling on the sofa while watching cartoons.  It’s a good size to grow with a child and get lots of use.  She chose the hourglass design, which beautifully compliments the fun patterns in the fabric and allows the brightness of the colors to be balanced out a bit so they’re not too overwhelming.  I.  Love.  This.  Quilt.  Isn’t it so fun and perfect for spring?  For the back of the quilt I used a gorgeous green and white print from Robert Kaufman.  It’s the same as one of the green prints used on the front of the quilt.  For the binding I used each of the fabrics sewn together on the bias.  I thought this would be a fun way to frame up such a pretty quilt.

And now for some beauty shots.  I am so happy with the way the pictures for this quilt turned out.  I feel like they really do it justice, which is not always the case when trying to capture stuff on “film.”  I thought I’d share a few of my favorites from this quilt that weren’t already featured.  Hope you like them (and the quilt!) as much as I do.

I am currently taking orders for custom made quilts of all sizes.  Please contact me if you’re interested!  Make sure to visit me on Facebook as well!
