Auction quilted bag

A friend of mine has a 4 year old daughter with Type 1 Diabetes.  Since the family found out this summer, their lives have been turned upside down and will never be the same.  Here’s a link to her blog where she has beautifully chronicled about their struggle throughout the first few months: http://www.vabeachduckfamily.blogspot.com/  They raised over $4,000 for the annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk that was held on October, 23 of this year.  They had the largest team of walkers (over 50!) and also won an award for their awesome team t-shirts.  There is currently a silent auction being held via e-mail to raise additional money for JDRF to help find a cure.  Many local businesses have donated gift certificates to be auctioned and I’ve donated a quilted little girl’s purse.  I’m posting a picture of this purse for anyone who may be interested in bidding for it.  I also have an additional one for sale.  If you’re not currently on the e-mail list for the auction and are interested in participating please let me know!  (My gorgeous girl Catherine kindly offered to model the purse)

When October Goes…

Ever had a song stuck in your head?  For the last few days I’ve had two.  The first is Barry Manilow’s hit “When October Goes,” which is pretty sad, but very appropriate for this time of year.  The second is Laurie Berkner’s “Victor Vito” which is incredibly upbeat and about two guys named Victor and Eddie who eat spaghetti, amongst other things.  Yes, it’s a kid’s song and I CAN NOT GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD!!!  I have been randomly singing it throughout the day for 4 days now and need a new song stuck in my head!   Am currently taking suggestions.

Now on to better things!  I had a successful time at the Sip ‘n Shop and thought I’d post some pics of the things I haven’t put online yet that are still available to buy.  (Major thanks to my kids’ babysitter who agreed to be my purse model)  I’m debating whether I should list everything on etsy.com or try to do another craft fair or two before Christmas.  Thoughts anyone?

Sip ‘n Shop!

Hello!  This Sunday, October 24th, I’ll be selling my quilts and purses at the Larchmont Sip ‘n Shop.  It will be held at Saint Patrick’s Catholic School, 1000 Bolling Ave., in Norfolk, VA, from 1-4 p.m.  It’s sure to be a fun event with lots of food, drinks, a silent auction and many vendors selling handmade crafts.  Come out and see me!

I am pleased to say that the craft fair went really well.  I sold a few items and have some orders for quilts!  Thank you for all of your well wishes and huge thanks to those who came out to visit me and show support.  I greatly appreciate it.

So it has been raining here for the better part of the last week.  The only upside is that the temperature is cooling off significantly and is starting to feel like (dare I say it!) FALL!  Fall and Spring are my favorite months.  The weather, the clothes and of course the excuse to drink (and eat) all those fun Starbucks seasonal treats.

I’ve got another craft fair (The Larchmont Sip and Shop) quickly approaching on October 24th.  It’s at Saint Patrick’s Catholic School on Bolling Ave. in Norfolk, from 1-4.  It’s to support CHKD and will feature lots of amazing crafters, a silent auction and wine, hence the “sip and shop” title.  Please come out to visit, shop and have a glass of wine, all while supporting CHKD!  It’s a win/win as far as I’m concerned.  Plus, Hanukkah is less than 2 months away and Christmas is just 2 and a half months away.  I plan on doing most of my holiday shopping there.

I’ve been working on some new quilted bags for the Sip and Shop and will be posting pictures soon!  In the meantime, here’s a picture of my silly daughter.
